Letter to Orson Smith and Counselors, 4 June 1891

Salt Lake City, U. T. President Orson Smith and Counselors, Cache Stake of Zion. Dear Brethren: Your favor of May 31st recommending the organization of three new wards in your Stake, and suggesting the names of brethren to be ordained as Bishops therefor, has been considered and its recommendations approved. We would say, however, that so far as the names of the wards are concerned it would, in our opinion, materially decrease the probabilities of confusion, if names entirely differing from the old wards were given to the new ones at Paradise and Millville; or that they be called respectively the First and Second Wards of Millville, and the First and Second Wards of Paradise. The too frequent repetition of the same names in our rapidly increasing settlements is a practice which we wish to avoid as much as possible

Letter to Orson Smith, 4 June 1891

Salt Lake City, U. T. Prest. Orson Smith, Cache Stake of Zion. Dear Brother: Answering your favor of 23rd ult. we will say that we do not deem it necessary that the names of the brethren who are nominated for ordina- tion as High Priests should be sent to us for approval; it is sufficient if they are considered and favorably pass- passed upon by the Presidency and High Council of the Stake of which they are members. With kindest regards We are your brethren W Woodruff Geo. Q. Cannon Jos. F. Smith
