August 25, 1896 ~ Tuesday

Aug 25th Brother Cannon, Asahel and myself
took carriage and rode to the city of Monterey and
hired a fishing boat, paid $500, and sailed out
to sea to the fishing ground and fished all day.
We caught about 200 Rock fish and one Red Cod,
of about 8 lbs weight. we caught one Rock fish of about
5 lbs weight. All the fish were very small. Brother
Cannon profesed never to be a fisherman, but
he caught his share to day. Asahel hooked a

Mauston Dear Presadent Woodruff, I wish to ask you a question: If one has heard the Gospel and did not except it, and when on a sick bed regreted it, and said if they could recover would [be] wright with the church, and they should pass away, would a work done for them be exepted? Will you pleas let me know. Aug 25 Brothers Cannon & Asahel & myself took carr & rode to the city of Monterey and highered a fish Boat paid $5 & road to sea opposite of the lake ground & fished with Hooks all day we caught about 200 rock fish & one rock cod of about 3 lbs weight we caught one rock fish of about 5 lbs most of the fish were vry small Brothe Cannon professed Never to be a Fisherman but He caught his share today Asahel Hooked a Halabut but Lost him He would weigh 25 lb.
