Dear Brother:

I take pleasure
in once more reporting the conditions of
affairs in the Indian Territory mission.

There has been thirteen baptisms this
season, and a propo[r]ti[o]nate number of children
blessed. The Elders have labored well
up to the hot season, when acording to
council they have taken it somewhat
easier, Elder James F. Smith now in
charge has been down with the chills
and fever for over three weeks. It seems
to be the ordeal they all have to pass
through, so we cannot think of giving
up. He may linger for some time
but not seriously until cool weather,
possibly when he will be all right
and able to do a good labor this fall
and winter, which is the best time
to labor in that clime.

The Elders have opened up quite a
field in the Choctaw nation, and
can use a pair of elders their, the
Cherokee field is becoming more
and more interesting and it seems
impossible for the four elders to
acomplish all the work. We therefore
desire to have our fource strengthened
by two more good elders. If this
meets your mind and I would recommend
that they go in September or not
later than just after Conference.

The brethren have sold Books of Mormon
to the amt. of $410 this having been
forwarded to me, I wish to purchase
more and send them. I wish, by
your permission, to send about twelve
coppies of the News again this coming
season, for they do a great deal of good,
also to replenish our stock of tracts etc.
With the exception of Bro. Smith,
all the Elders are well and rejoicing in
their labors, and have no disposition
of relinguishing their labors.

With your kind council and approval
I will take pleasure in fitting the
brethren up with assistance both
in elders and outfit to labor with,
I realize that the mission is grow-
ing and we are receiving much
encouragement, and hope nothing
in our power will be left undone,
to continue the good work.

pPardon the length of letter, and
oblige your humble servant with
a reply as soon as convenient.

With kind love from the elders and
myself to all^You and all^ our brethren I am
as ever your Affectionate Bro.
