Richfield Utah.

To the First Presidency
Salt Lake City.

Dear Brethren:

In regard to the enclosed
letter I wish to say, it is correct and
the cause is a worthy one. I had a
letter from Elder Lorin C. Woolley in
regard to others of this branch, two Bros.
Walker who are in a similar pos-
ition. During my visit to Black-
gum
I found about twenty good
members all in good standing, one
only a cherokee and on whos right
the others remained in the nation.
The recent law being inforced
will eject all intruders, they will
have to leave. Bro. Pardue the Cherokee,
his wife and wife's parents are
financially able, to travel and move,
but the remainder of the colony
are not, consisting of those named

in the letter and those mentioned
in Elder Woolley's letter. I intended
seeing you about this case but
could not get at it before leav-
ing home, so take this opportun-
ity of informing you.

They were organized in a company
preparitory to traveling. We wrote
the Presidency of the Stake in Mexico
about their coming to that place and
intended soon as we got word to
ask you to recommend them as
we can do. the two Bros. Walker ask
that if they could get from $2500
to 5000 each they could get through.
I felt reluctant at asking you
for any aid, but I can say
I never saw a more worthy
cause for assistance, and I
trust you will feel able to do
something for them. I cannot
for the life of me see what they

will do if we do not help them.
I will be home about the 24th
but if you feel you can do
any thing of a substantial nature,
kindly address President Joseph
J. Richardson
of the Cherokee Con-
ference, Manard, Ind., Ty. who
is familiar with the whole affair
and will gladly and wisely look
after it. I sincerially hope
something can be done to aid
them out of that country and in
a better one. They are all able
bodied and willing people, but
unfortunate in getting among
the Indians where they have no
privileges.

Respctfully
Your brother
