Riverton

Pres. Woodruff
and Council.

Dear Brethern

When the Devision on national
Party lines ^came^ I understood by
reading the papers that
the people were at liberty
to join Ether of the parties,
according to there own convictions.
I also understood that that we
were at liberty to accept any
possion that the people
bestow upon us,
being nominated for the
Lower House. In the next
Legislature I accepted
beleaving I was doing my
duty, I did not realise
I had neglected any duty

untill I heard the remarks
of Pres. Joseph F. Smith
on Monday last at conferance
I would be pleased to
know if it is Desired and
proper that I Should
decline said nomination,
for my gereatest desire
is to Honor those that
Preside over me.

Trusting to have an
Earley reply, I remain
your Brother

O. P. Miller
