President Wilford Woodruff,

Dear Brother

I imbrace the present opportunity
of answering your wecome letter
that I received some time ago, and
the reason for not answering sooner
is this, I realize that it need a
little time and consideration,
and to know weather I could
fix things up in a manner
that I could leave in that short
a time. I realize Dear Brother
that it is quit a trilal to leave a
wife and three little children
to fish for them selves, but I find
that we have to sacrafice a great
deal in this world for the Gospel
sake. Therefore I am willing

to leave those that are near and
dear to me by the ties of nature
and go forth to the nations
of the earth an endeavor to
advocate the principals of life
and salvation unto the children
of men by the aid and assistan
ce of our Heavinly Father, and
I feel to subject my-self by those
that is placed in authority over
me, although I feel a weak instru
ment in an off myself in ind
eavoring to go to the nations
of the earth to promulgate the
truth. I asolso realize that the
Gospel has got to be preached to
every nation, kindred, tongue,
and people, and the young and
rising generation has got to
go and proclaim it. I will
know close hoping that we may
imbrace the opportunity and
