Dear Bro.

You have no doubt heard that
I had been arrested and I thought I
had better write a few words explanitory
of the matter. I left Salt Lake on night
train and came right through.
The Deputies followed right in. I heard
of their being on the road and got out
of the way. They came to my house searched
it and the premises and then started with
my wife to Ft Duchesne, to the Commisoners
I was notified of it and beat them there
and gave my self up. I did this rather
than have my family taken
before the courts. Now my oldest son
Enos ^was^ calculating starting on a
mission to Europe soon. Now unless
you need him, It would be much
better for me to have him remain

home for a while, as my other boys
are small and he is the only
one I have to look after my
interests; and If I have to go to the
penitentary for six months it will take
him all his attention.
