Woodruff and Ezra T. Benson, on Saturday, , in the Seventies' Council Hall, G. S. L. City. Pronounced by W. Woodruff. Brother James in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by virture of the holy priesthood we lay our hands upon your head and we set you apart unto this ^mission^ that has been appoin- ted you by the servants of the Lord, and we pray God to pour out upon you the gift and power of the holy ghost, and the spirit of that priesthood which has been sealed upon you by the servants of the most high. We pray that thou mayst prosper and be blessed in thy ministry and be the means of bringing very many to the knowledge of the truth, and we seal these blessings upon thy head, and we say thout shalt be blessed abundantly, and thou shalt be the means of brining many of the Lamanites to know the Lord, yea thou shall have influence to convert them and save them from many errors that they may be brought to know the Gospel of Jesus Christ; and they shall become acquainted sufficiently with the mind of the Lord to bring forth fruit to his honor and glory. And you shall be prospered in all your endeavors to do good. And inasmuch as your will be faithful you shall be warned by dreams, visions and by the inspiration of the comforter, and you shall speak forth

In the evening I met with the Universal Scientific Society in their annual meeting Next Sunday I met with the quorum of the Twelve and missionaries in the Seventies Hall and ordained men to the ministry. There were over 100 set apart by the laying on of hands to their various missions among the Lamanites. This was done by the Twelve and Seventies. I blessed about 40 missionaries and ordained 10 to the office of the Seventies in company with Joseph Young ^and A. P. Rockwood^ Presidents of the Seventies. The missionaries were addressed by Orson Hyde and E. T. Benson Our meeting with the missionaries closed at 3 o'clock. We then went to the Prayer Circle and arrangements were made for us to go South with President Young
