Wilford Woodruff, Dear Brother: - Some years of labor in the Church-school service has assured me that I need better preparation in my specialties in order to be abrest of the progressive stream of our grand educational system. My training has been greatly mathematical and my ambitions are in that line. Am desirous of spending sufficient time in some advanced institution to complete the course in Civil Engineering, and probably in Mining Engineering. Think that I can be best accommodated at either the Lehi University, Penn, or the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y. I know of no difficulty to forbid my leaving the College, where I have ben laboring; and believe that I will have the faith and good wishes of the members of our board, and
