We have power here through the Priesthood to lay hands upon the sick & they recover, to cast out devils open the eyes of the blind & unstop the ears of the deef according to the faith of the chil- dren of men. It is just as easy to raise the dead for one who is ordained unto this power as it is for us to administer in the ordinances of the House of the Lord here. Some times we lay hands upon the sick & they are healed instantly other times with all the faith & medicine they are a long time getting well, & others die.

their is another subject that I wish to speak of & that is the principle of recording the dealings of God with us here on the Earth while all other prophets & Apostles record the dealings of God with them why should not the Elders of this last dispensation it is true that the Prophet Joseph wrote the History of the church in his day & that testiment is now gladdening the harets [hearts] of thousands while the testator is dead so with the Presidency of the Church who are now leading us they keep a History of the dealings of both God & man with them the History of which will be interesting to millions of future generations but does this excuse the many thousands of Elders & High priest & Apostles who have travelled for many years & built up this church & kingdom & had the gifts of the Holy Ghost with them so they have had power to heal the sick & cast out devils open the eyes of the blind unstop the ears of the deaf cause the lame to leap as an heart & commanded the Elements & they obey them. & have had guardian Angels to preserve them from Danger & Death I say shall the Elders be blessed with these things & not count them worth recording not even make the mark of a pen to leave the Account on record for their children & future generations to read I say they should. I think the Lord requires this at our hands & it is a Rich & Holy legacy which is Justly due our posterity And I do desire that the Elders of this church would keep a history & Journal of their lives I also wish that our young men would become acquainted with Phonography that we may have one thousand reporters whare we have one now that they may report the teachings of the servants of God & the work of God in this generation

when Christ first sent his disciples to preach the gospel which was to the lost sheep of the house of israel he commanded them to heal the sick cleanse the lepers rase the dead cast out devils &c

Christ appeared to the eleven as they sat at meat & gave them a varry forcible command to go into all the world & preach the gospel to ev^e^ry creature he that believeth & is baptized shall be saved & he that believeth not shall be damned & these signs shall follow them that believe in my name shall they cast out devils they shall speak with new tongues they shall lay hands on the sick & they shall recover &c

When we arived at his house his wife was in a great rage required 3 men to hold her We lade hands upon her & after a mighty struggle cast the devil out & rebuked the fever & she was made whole & was at meeting comfortable next day, but the devil entered into her child next, day & flung it into a dredful agony & made it as stiff as a stake, we lade hands upon it, & the devil instantly came out & the child fell asleep.

The Elders have gone forth teaching and bap- tizing the people; they have laid their hands upon the sick and healed them, cast out devils, and had power to do all those things which the Lord has promised unto believers.

Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, repentance and baptism for the remission of sin, are absolute requirements, which must be com- plied with before the Holy Ghost can be received. These signs, says the apostle, shall follow them that believe: in my name shall they cast out devils, they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover, etc. These blessings are the right of every honest believer in Christ. They were set in the church by the Saviour, and remain with the Church, as a mighty cloud of wit- nesses throughout this Territory could testify to; and not only they of this Territory, but those of every land and clime wherever the gospel has been preached and a branch of the church organized
