March 21st {Oh Lord bless Phebe this day in need in every time of need I pray}
I walked to Ledbury & found [FIGURE] a letter from W.
Richards. I returned to Brother Benbows & baptized
4 persons 2 were preachers one of which was
Thomas Kington the superintendant of the preachers
of the United Brethren glory Hallaluyah the work of God
rolls on Distance of the day 12 miles

Autobiography 1882 Leaves from My Journal

On the I baptized Elder Thomas Kings- ton. He was the superintendent of both preachers and members of the United Brethren. The first thirty days after my arrival in Herefordshire, I had baptized forty-five preachers and one hundred-sixty-mem- bers of the United Brethren, who put into my hands one chapel and forty-five houses, which were licensed according to law to preach in. This opened a wide field for labor, and enabled me to bring into the Church, through the blessing of God, over eighteen hundred souls during eight months, including all of the six- hundred United Brethren except one person; also including some two hundred preachers of various denominations. This field of labor embraced Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Worcestershire, and formed the conferences of Garway, Godfield Elm and Frome's Hill. I was visited by President Young and Dr. Richards.

The next I walked to Ledbury and found a letter from Brother Richards. Afterwards returning to brother Benbow's I baptized four persons 2 of whom were preachers: one was Thomas Kingston the Superintendant of the preachers of the United Brethren. I felt to exclaim Glory to God, this work rolls on! Sunday I preached at Hill Farm and in the evening confirmed 6 persons and ordained Thomas Kington to the office of an Elder and William Jinkins to the office of Priest. The next day I received letters from John Taylor Willard Richards and Alfred Cordon.
