Dec 1st I met at J. Taylors in company with
Wm W Phelps & Br Taylor & myself put into
Br Phelps hand $2.53 dollars to go to St Louis
for paper & other materials he started with a
waggon in the snow

Business/Financial - Lease with Joseph Smith Jr., 1 December 1842
This Indenture, made the first day of De- cember, in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred and forty two: between Joseph Smith of the ci- ty of Nauvoo, of the one part; and John Taylor, and Wilford Woodruff ^of the said city^ of the other part, witnesseth, that the said Joseph Smith; for the consideration hereinafter mentioned, hath demised, granted and leased, and doth hereby demise, grant, and lease, unto the said John Taylor, and Wilford Woodruff their executors; administrators, and assigns; his en- tire printing establishment, consisting of the Printing Office and Lot at the corner of Water, and Bain Streets; in the city of Nauvoo, County of Hancock, & State of Ill- inois; and formerly purchased of Ebenezer Robinson; together with, all the printing presses, type, stereotype foundry, and plates, presses, Book bindery, and all other goods, and chattels, whatsoever, mentioned and ex- pressed, in the schedule hereunto annexed; now remain- ing, and being in Nauvoo, Hancock County, and State of Illinois: together with all the priviledges and appur- tenances thereunto belonging. To have and to Hold, the said premisis, with the appurtenances, for, and du- ring the term of five years, from the first day of December, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hun- dred, and forty two. And the said John Taylor, and Willford Woodruff for themselves, their heirs, executors, and administra- tors, do covenant and agree, to pay unto the said Joseph Smith, his heirs and assigns, the rent of four hun- dred dollars per year, the rent to be paid half yearly viz two hundred dollars every six months. And the said parties for themselves respectfullyively each with the other; and their respective heirs and executors and administrators, do further covenant and agree as follows, to wit; that the said Joseph Smith shall
