15th Rode 18 miles & walked 3 & took supper
with Br [blank] then Rode 6 miles
to Mr Hoofmans whare I spent the night
distance of the day 27 miles
[FIGURE] During this days ride we passed over the
ground of the Brandywine Battle saw
whare the action commenced whare the
Americans Retreated & a part of them surren-
dered it was near Chadds ford saw whare
Gen Washington led away the remainder of
the army
