September 23, 1845 ~ Tuesday

23rd [FIGURES] I wrote three letters to friends
I recieved by Amos Fielding 67 letters
from Nauvoo from Kimball Webster
Ells & Br Young And the remainder

of the Times & Seasons from Br
John Taylor to finish out the whole of the
Vth volumn. I went down to get them
through the custom house & one man that
seemed to be assisting in examining the
the things fwas full of the devil & mad-
ness on seeing the T & Seasons containing the
History of Joseph Smith He cursed &
swore at me all the time I was getting
them through the Custom House It was
An unpleasant day in some respets but
may the Lord reward him according
to his work 4 [miles]
