Mr Wilford Woodruff,
Dear Brother,
I have yours of
the 24th of April and 1st of May. I regret
that I have not as yet been able to honor
the draft in favor of Messrs Sanborn & Carter.
Gov. Young sent me claims against the
Government to the amount of several
thousand dollars, with the proceeds of which
he desired me to liquidate your claim,
as well as those of some others, but I have
hither to been able to collect but a trifling
amount of them. As soon as I can obtain
the means I will cancel the draft in question.
On Monday last another member of Congress
went to that "bourne from whence no traveler
returns."
