September 18, 1858 ~ Saturday

18th We had a hard wind & blew of[f] much fruit &
broke some of the trees. I spent most of the day in the
office on history we are now in the midst of burning
of morley settlement by the mob & the scenes which followed
the Mail came in about 3 oclok
