February 19, 1874 ~ Thursday

Feb 16, to 20 This is our last week of the session of the Legislature
& we never closed till 6 oclok Friday Morning the 20th
Govornor Woods Approved 22 Bills & vetoed 11 Bills
He vetoed the Appropriation Bill we had a Joint Session
in the Afternoon & Elected all the Territorial officers
& Probate Judges I received 10 Letters from various
A folded letter/box 10 A hand pointing to the right persons & wrote 10 To Wilford, Sarah, Susan, Ilus,
&c we had a hard nights work the last night The
Appropriation Bill amounted to $195,159.20
more than thre times the amount of any other Appropriation
Bill the Legislature ever passed I never felt as much
responsibility resting upon me as during this session I was not
out of the Legislature while in session one hour from comm[encemen]t
to End & labored on committies constantly

St George Temple Elder Erastus Snow Salt Lake City Dear Brother I receved your Welcome letter of Feb 14, and was glad to lear[n] from you Our work in the Temple continues mostly up to its full capacity. On the 12 we baptzed 1582 & on the 5, 1119. We have had 214 & 226 endowents in a day and the interest continues on the increase John W Young has been here near two weeks I spent Mondy the 11th with him and a few others rolling down rock & making a wall on the south side of the Dug way near Middleton and then worked at yesterday to finish it up so teams could not run off there Dug was North of Washington should be sent in the same manner I expect he will start for Salt Lake some day this week It is a general time of
