Karl G Maeser get it read [end of sideways text] KARL G. MAESER, PRINCIPAL. PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE Brigham Young Academy, Provo City, Utah, Oct. 15. 1887 President Wilford Woodruff. Dear Brother, By letter from Bro. Wm. Seegmiller I am notified that the Sevier Stake Academy will open on Monday, Oct. 17, and that they desired me to be present at the occasion. As my duties at the B. Y. Academy prevent me to comply with this cordial invitation, I have written them a congratulatory letter. Bro. Isaac Hayes, of Pleasant Grove, one of our former Graduates, whose name among some others I had the honor to submit you some time ago for such positions, has been engaged upon my recommendation as Principal, with Miss Arretta Young, also one of our Graduates, as Assistant. As soon the school is fairly started, I expect a report from the Prin- cipal, which I shall forward to you, or in synopsis, according to its nature. This has suggested to me the idea to have complete reports furnished from all existing churchschools, as material for your consideration and future direction. If you should approve of this, I should be happy to receive your instructions in regard to all the

Letter from Hannah T. Grover, 15 October 1887

Nephi Prest. Wilford ^Wiffford^ Woodrudd Dear Brother I hope I am not troubling you too much in writing to you so often on affairs of my own. This leaves me well as I hope and pray that it finds you. I wish to ask you about a young man (my Nephew) who is dead was born and raised in the Church He had a wife and children when he died and it was agreed between them himself and his wife that he should take another wife as soon as he could bring it about He was born here in the Valley died aged about 27 has been dead about 5 years. His mother (my sister) has asked me to write to you and asks you if he might have his 2nd Anointings and have 2 or 3 dead women sealed to him My sister (his mother) is a wife of Mr. Grover I think myself that he (Jacob Grover) was a good man and his Bishop has sent his mother a Recommend showing that he was a Latter day Saint. Another question I am requested to ask you is of another son of hers who had his Endowments and after his wards he was away from home and having no garments prepared for him) (he was quite young at the time) and I suppose that he was care- less and left his garments off not because of unbelief for he has paid his tithing but he married about 8 years ago a Daughter of Jacob Bigler who had not had her Endowments so he did not put his garments (whom failed I do not know) but proably carelessness, about a year after he married he seduced his wifes sister, and she had a child by him he confessed his fault and was rebaptized again into the Churc h ch while Bro Teasdal was presiding here since that time he has not felt at liverty to put on his garments whthout the sanction of the Priesthood over him. Will you please tell me what will be right for him to do I never dsaw a man that had more thoroughly repented than he has. The Sin seems always before him but he would like to do as he ought to I believe Sister Teasdale and family were well the last time that I saw them. Ever praying for your Welfare and Comfort and the blessing of God to be upon yhou and yours I remain your Sister in the Gospel. Hannah T. Grover.
