Letter from Frederick Kesler, 17 June 1889
Salt Lake City, Utah. Prest Wooilford Woodruffe Dear Bro In endorsing Bro. Robt H Hodge for a foreign mission, I omitted to state that he is prepared to bear his own Expences. Also failed to state that he only held the Aaronic Priesthood and is President of a Teachers Quorum, but will see that he is ordained an Elder and receives his Endowments in good time. I cheerfully recommend this brother as being worthy to take this mission. Kind Regards Your Bro in the gospel F Kesler Bishop
Letter from John Edward Huish, 17 June 1889
Payson City, Utah, President Wilford Woodruff Dear Bro, In answer to yours of the 7th Inst, stating that I have been called to take a mission to Great Britian and be ready to start on August 14th I would say if nothing happens more than I know of at present, I will try and get my Business affairs settled and with the help of the Lord I will try and be ready by that time to go and do the best I can. But I feel within my self a very poor and week Instrument to do Missionary Labor Respectfully Yours in the Gospel Jno E. Huish Joseph S. Tanner OK L J n
Letter from Thomas Edwin Ricks, 17 June 1889
Blackfoot, Idaho President Wilford Woodruff Salt Lake City Dear Brother I think it wisdom to write and in- form you of the situation here. My case comes up at this term but I have hopes that it will be thrown out. The contest case for the county offices comes up tomorrow and will be the most exciting case we have had in this county. A number of Bishops' have been subpeoened to appear and bring all their Ward records with them to prove the withdrawal of the mem- bers of their wards, was genuine —or if possible to prove it a fraud. What the outcome will be I do not know there are about 80 witnesses here now, it is a great hardship to some of the brethren as they are needed
