Letter from Charles Ora Card, 24 June 1890
President Wilford woodruff Salt Lake City Utah U. S. A. Dear Brother During my visit to my home in Utah and since I have been impressed to try and gain my freedom and return to my field of labor in Cache Stake and have taken steps to clear the way before me, that I might enjoy my liberty and I can truthfully state I have been in this fairly successful of which I presume my counselor Elder Orson Smith and my wife Zina have advised you. I advised the above parties to call upon you and see if this course met your approval, which they both informed me they would do immediately and as I have ^heard^ nothing definite from either, I desire to represent myself and feel it my duty so to do, that there may be no mis- apprehensions, that what I do may meet
Letter from Smith Wells Robertson, 24 June 1890
Spanish Fork, . President Wilford Woodruff, Dear Brother, Your much esteemed letter of the 19th Inst. was duly recieved. My feelings are that I am unworthy of such a call, and am young and inexperien- ced, but I feel willing to except, and try and do my best to honor the call. Your Brother in the Gospel, Smith Wells Robertson. George D Snell Bishop O.K. J. F. S.
Letter from Ward Eaton Pack Sr., 24 June 1890
Laie Prest W. Woodiuff Dear Brother I feel it is my duty to write you from time to time with reference to the condition of this mission. I therefore have much pleasure in stating that the reports that have reached ^me^ from Bros Wm H. Allen & Malin Horn who are on the island of Hawaii respecting the work of the ministry there are very cheering. Quite a number are being baptised and the Branches of the Church there are being revived and set in better working order by them and their Native aids. Bro Brigham Johnson, who is now speaking the Hawaii- an language well, writes me from Kawai that he feels encouraged in his labors and that he and his native aids are doing a good work there. One of the native Elders (Makaalu) who was laboring with him whose family resides here sickened there and died recently. Bro S. S. Hammond is at Honolulu and is working assiduously studying the language, and doing much from house to house preaching. his heart seems to be all in the work. Bros Isaac Fox, M. F. Eakle, & Chas Harper are here rendering efficient aid in the making of sugar. Bro J. Brown (alias [blank]) is our book ^& store^ keeper a good counselor and very useful Elder here
