Letter from George Teasdale, 19 July 1890

President W. Woodruff & Council. Beloved Brethren: We had a most excellent Conference on Sunday last at Cheltenham, the 13th inst, and a priesthood meeting on Saturday evening. There were 9 Elders from Utah present. On Tuesday evening we held a fellowship meeting which was well attended and a number of interesting testimonies borne. On Wednesday I returned to the office and met Elders Lorus Pratt, John Hafen and J. B. Fairbanks en route to Paris and James J. W. Duncan who arrived in Liverpool on Saturday night the 12th inst per Guion S. S. Nevada. They were all in ex- cellent health and spirits. They met with us at our Wednesday evening meeting and we had an ex- cellent testimony meeting. Afterwards we met in the prayer room at 42 Islington and Elder Lorus Pratt was appointed the president of the French Mission and set apart for that responsibility. So we have a representation in France. Elder Duncan was appointed to labor in the Scottish Mission. I was acquainted with him when he was a boy about 8 years of age in Scotland. His father presided over the Tranent Branch of the Edinburgh Conference in 1859 and 60; he emigrated to Utah and died

Letter from Charles W. Stayner, 19 July 1890

Washington D.C. . Pres. Wilford Woodruff Salt Lake, Utah. Dear Sir and Brother; Owing to the failing health of Elder Isaac K. Wright, who left home in April [18]89, and who has been changed and rested occasionally to see if he would recover, I have been impressed to release him to return home. The heat is so oppres- sive and he suffers so much from sick- headackes that I think, and he also feels it would be better for him to return. I would be pleased if you would kindly forward to me his transportation from Columbus, Ohio, where ^or in which vicinity^ he will stay among friends from now till he leaves for home. He will acquiant me with his address so that I can send the tickets to him. He would prefer if it makes no difference to the Church to go by D&R. G. from Denver. But leaves it open unless perfectly convenient
