Letter from Brigham S. Young, 29 November 1890
Prest. Wilford Woodruff, Dear Bro. I was notified yesterday by Elder Reynolds that I was wanted for a mission to England, and was also requested to write you of my feelings and situation. A call from the presiding priesthood to any duty is to me one of the most power- ful of earthly things, and I therefore say that where they wish me to go, I shall be ready. As to my situation, and by that term I mean my business situation, it is at present a very poor one for a protracted and expensive absence. Like most others in my line of business my obligations are considerable, and if my presence in my field of labor is not immediately required and there could be time given to put my affairs in leavable shape it would save me considerable sacrifice.
Letter from George Teasdale, 29 November 1890
Prest Wilford Woodruff Box B, Salt Lake City, UT. Dear Brother: Your favors of the 21st & 22nd Oct received and contents noted. With regard to Elder William Galbraith I think you have been mis- informed. I have become acquainted with Bro Gal- braith since my arrival and I do not apprehend any trouble from him. He has his peculiarities like the rest of us but I should think him a pretty good meaning man ^true to his covenants^ I should like to know your infor- mant ofr who are his accusers. I had a long talk to Bro. Burningham. It is just as you say he has made some grave mistakes, at least I think so. He defends himself very vigorously and accuses others of misreppresenting him. I reminded him that he had written you finding fault with his bishop and accusing him of having written Bro B. a very insulting letter and witholding a certificate of membership, that youPrest W W had in- stituted inquiry and found an accusation against him- self by his wife Zina for neglect &c and that the mat- ter had been referred to me. I advised him to make things right with his Bishop and settle any expense his family might have been to the Ward and secure his certificate if that was all that prevented him get- ting one. This he promised to do. I do not wish to worry you with all that was said, if itas it would take more of your valuable time than is necessary attend to it. With regard to James N. Walker I have not seen him. He is staying in the upper settlements and is not a colonist of his
