Letter from Abraham Owen Woodruff, 5 May 1894
Dearest Father, Mother, Blanche & Alice Yesterdays mail brought me letters from you dated April 17th, the first I have received for a long time. There surely must have been some lost as Blanche has never answered my letter I wrote her on her birthday. If she has never answered I think her real unkind as I was so anxious to hear from her & yesterday was the first time for six weeks. Can assure you your letters were all highly appreciated & if time & my condition would permit would take great pleasure in answering them all seperately. We have had real cold weather here for two or three days the coldest it has been for two months. The sad news of the death of Bro. Mc Ewan will almost kill his son Will. I first heard it from Clara & at once wrote Will in as comforting way as was possible under such awful circumstances. I hope you Pa took the time to write Will a letter if it was possible. Would rather you would miss writing me once (although I can not tell you how much good your kind letters do) and write poor Will for I know he will be heart-broken & do anything you can to comfort him. I know Will if one of the finest young men we have got. Since we left home especially you can't imagine the love which exhists bettween us Salt Lake boys. Although we are parted there is nothing in the world
