Salt Lake city, President Wilford Woodruff Dear Brother—Permit me please to lay before you the trouble I am subject to from the part of the Deseret News Co. They are selling the Encyclopedia Britannica by installment, and some time ago I went to their Educational Department (where they sell the sets) and I signed an application for a set to be delivered at my convenience; I did not want to sign any paper to that effect, but they said that they might not have any set when I should want one, as they were going so fast, and so I signed what they called an application, but now they claim it was a contract. Last Monday I went down to cancel my order ans I was not and am not in position to take the set, and asked to see my application, which was handed to me; I then tore it.
