Ogden Utah President Wilford Woodruff. Salt Lake City Utah Dear Brother: Some months ago Bro E. T. Wooley of this city handed to you a letter written by me Nov 28 [18]95; regarding a memorial arch and Pioneer square in Salt Lake city; without any Explaination; Said you was verry busy at the time; ^I^ was verry sorry he did not expain my position; I gave Bro Wooley the manuscript & with it my reasons for sending a copy to you, he took off towo copyes in duplicate, one he sendt to me & the other he took to you. There is a slight mistake or two in the Type written copiys; After writing this article; my wife read it over to me the first time, after reading it she said, Pa you aught to send that to President Woodruff! at the same instant, the same feeling came upon me. Soon after this my Brother in Law Bishop White ^Brothers^ Jos Parry & David M Stewart called in to see me. I let them read the article
Letter from E. Jordan, 31 May 1896
Dear sir I pen these few lines to you to ask you if it is possiable for you to find me staeady employment I assure you that I would appreacate your kindness if you will endeaver to find me steady employment as you are interested in the railwroads a word from you would help me. I wrote you some time ago from fillmore concerning me going upon a mission well now I would like to be let of for one year, I buried my wife Some 4 months ago in fillmore, and would like to recieve steady employment, if you cannot furnish me work right away will you file my application for fireman or brakeman when you are ready to start on the new railroad trusting that you will give me work of some kind soon I remain Respectfully your Bro in the Gospel, E. Dear Brother: In reply to the call made of me to take a mission to the Eastern States will say, as I have previously explained to Bro. Reynolds, that I am willing to go, and if nothing unlooked for transpires to prevent, I will be prepared to leave Salt Lake City on the date appointed—viz. July 2nd, 1896.
