Letter from Jedediah Taylor, 1 June 1896

L.D.S. College, Salt Lake City, Utah, . Pres. Wilford Woodruff, Salt Lake City. Dear Brother: I have recieved a communication to the effect that my name has been sug- gested and accepted as a missionary to the Southern States, with the request that I an- swer the letter. Concerning my feelings with regard to this call I will say, I have not sought for the priv- ilege of preaching the gospel. I realize that the work is important, and that I am very insignificant and poorly prepared for such a work, but if you desire, if it is the will of the Lord for me to un- dertake such a work I trust that my way will be opened up. If you choose to call me, please let me know at once what things in the shape of books, clothing etc. I will need, as I have but little money to purchase these things with and will have to make turns with other things to get the necessities. This will require some time. Your Brother, Jedediah Taylor. John Tingey Bishop

Letter from Carl Christian Anton Christensen, 1 June 1896

Ephraim, . President W. Woodruff, Dear Brother, Your favor of the 29th of May, proposing me as a missionairy to the United States, has been re- ceived and considered, and I am confident that I will be able to respond to your call as early as October 1896, the time mentioned in your letter. If, however, I could have the privilige to attend the semi-annual conference in Salt Lake City, before my final departure, I would consider it a great boon. Yours, in the Gospel of Christ, C. C. A. Christensen C R Darius Bp. of Ephraim South Ward.
