I arrived here yesterday after
noon to assist in organizing the Branch of the Church &c.
here as Elder Lutz leaves with his family on Wed
nesday next for the West. I had purposed of coming
too, But circumstances, has seemed to place me other
wise. You know of Mothers sickness, as you heard in
Philadephia. She is confined to her Room at my house
yet, but she is getting better, but she has not been
able to move, neither can I tell at present when
she will be. I have lost a neice 24 years old ( I
believe or more) and also a Brother—the niece was
buried the thirsday before I left you in Philadephia
and my Brothers funeral I attended last thirsday
Both died in a few minutes after they were too
hear; and what is worst of all, had never obeyed
the Gospel. We durst not let Mother know it under
her present weak circumstances. Therefore under the
present existing affairs I do not know, when I shall
get started. If not son, I shall endeavor to assist
Elder Little in getting up a ship. As I have
received a letter from BrHyde since I saw
you telling me that is what they wish me to do, and
to go my whole length and breadth in getting
out a compay to follow Elder Brannan. I
have wrote back, to Br Hyde, giving him a de
tail of my proceedings as I informed you
