was this day sentenced to pay a fine & be imprisioned in
the Peneitentiary for 24 Hours for contempt of court By
Judge McKean because he had not paid the Lawyiers $3000 in
time as ordered By Judge McKean. President Young was
in court at the time the order was made He was in the Hands
of the Marshall Smith who took him home to Presidents Youngs
Residence & he got dinner, at about 3 oclok He started in his own
carriage in company with Marshall A. K Smith & D. H. Wells
for the Penitentiary G. A. SmithA. M. Musser in one carriag
& F. D. RichardsF. Little, Driver & W Woodruff in another

I met with the officers of Zions Saving Bank & in
the Evening I Attended a party of the Seventies at the 14 ward
school House

3rd I spent a part of the day in the Endowment House we Baptized
250 persons for the dead D H Wells sealed 40 couple & W Woodruff 59 couple
~ Thursday to ~ Friday
4 & 5 I spent the time making posts & setting fence
~ Saturday
6. I spent the day making fence & getting out manure
~ Sunday
7. Sunday I met with my Quorum in the circle I received
FIGURES 3 letters & wrote 4 to Wilford, Azmon, Richmond &
Bishop Hammond
