On August 31, 1838 Wilford Woodruff records how he spent the last day of summer with his wife and her sister. He shares:
“The last day of summer. I rode in company with Mrs Woodruff & Sister Rhoda F. Scamman to the Beach on the Sea Shore. We spent an hour riding upon this beautiful beach which extended along the shore for about seven miles in length and one hundred rods in width at low water. This beach is composed of fine white sand, almost dead level & very easy & pleasant to ride or walk upon. The sun shone brilliant upon the face of nature. O Lord grant that I may from this day tend me and my wife and child and lead in the love of God to each one and all know our duty.”
How are you celebrating the end of summer?
