On May 27, 1846 Wilford Woodruff recorded an accident that happened to his father. He wrote,

“We journeyed through the day and just before we stopped a serious accident happened to Father Woodruff. He went to get into the wagon while the oxen were traveling the foreboard gave way that He took hold of & He instantly fell upon His back & both wheels of the wagon passed over his legs and arms and came near passing over his head. I expected it had killed him but we soon found it had not broken any bones but had bruised his flesh badly.”
