Portland Recd of W. Woodruff Drft from Livingston & Kincade for Five hundred Dollars and Treasury note for sixty two and 50/100 Dollars, amounting to Five hundred sixty two 50/100 in a/c. Sanborn & Carter pr I. F. Carter Bro. W. Above please find recpt for money by last mail, which came safely and expiditiously to hand. you are very prompt in all your business operations and have been very successful in raising money Drft, to one note are much the safest. I feel very sorry about that money that you sent by Horner. I hope that you will be able to collect it of him when he arrives at Salt Lake and think if he has it, or if any one could collect it of him you will be likely to. he will have to be sharp to escape you when your dues are just.
