Letter from Ozem Woodruff, 27 December 1854
Avon Cover Wilford Beloved friend and Brother I and my family through the Blessing of God enjoy comfortable health and in A good degree of gospel liberty I have six of my family h embrased the Advent faith and they are firme in the belief that Christ is soon coming to take his weary ones home they have been disappointed once or twise but are firm that Christ will come in the course of nex Spring for my own part I dont see things as they do I would gladly believe if I could I am weary of this troublesom world and want to go and be at rest let the saviour come when he will I hope to be ready better be ready and not go than go and not be ready. I am in comfortable circumstances and have the comforts of life I ask not the riches and [h]onors of the world all i ask is day by day my daily Bread I had rather live on a crust of bread and feel Christ within than have all the superfluotus that the world affords, without the enjoyment of religion. I have a few things to request of you that is give me your views of the state of ^the^ world as it now exist and the state of the church in the sectarian world. Give me views on all subject that you think is necessary for me to know I should like to be with you and with the mormon church there is no life amongst the churches here all dead but the advents there appears to be some less among them it does me good to have my children exort and pray
