I F Carter . Answered copied in Historians Book Portland July 9th 56 My dear Sister & Brother Yesterday I recd your very kind letter of June 1st, and was glad to hear from you after so long a time. I dont know, really when I have had a letter before from you, and I fear that you do not get mine. I was glad to hear that you are quite well. Mr. Woodruff must have had a very severe attack and his recovery seems quite Providential You speak of my visiting you, it would afford me great pleasure to do so but when that time will come is quite uncertain. presume your city has increased very much since I was there, I have quite a number of friends there that I should like to see. Brother Hardy, Smoot, Sister Coward &c. by the way how is Mrs. Coward these days? please give my regards to her and all of my old friends and acquaintance with you.
