March 01, 1871 ~ Wednesday

March 1st 1871. This is my Birth day I am
[FIGURES] 64 years of age this day it is
quite a cold snowy day. I wrote 3 Letters to Azmon
Woodruff
to F. A. Hammond who wanted to buy stock
& to B K Bliss & son Box 5712 Post Office New Yog [York]
& sent $2.25 for 8 lb potatoes & 1 package of Peas
several Brethren called upon me during the day on a
variety of Business 6 M[iles]

Salt Lake City Brother Charles C. Rich Dear Friend I write to say that My Son Wilford Jr. has been honorably discharged from his Southern Mission by president Young & has returned home & is now with me and taking every thing into consideration I do not think he can do any better than to take up his abode at Randolph under your jurisdiction. he can obtain a home there for him- self & look after my interest a little also. I would like him to enter a quarter section of Land there & take a chance with the rest of the setters, do you recommend the Brethren there to preempt or Homestead I would like him to do as you think best in this Matter, I want him to go out early so he can make a Begining this spring, I wish you would do me the favor to write to Bishop Stewart & ask him to look out a place for my son or to assist him to get a location with the rest there. He has had a hard time in the Muddy that Mission has cost me $1500 & then had to come away & leave home, crops & all & glad to
