John W Young Pitched a tent this morning beside of
his for me and I went into it and wrote 11 Letters
[FIGURES] to J Jaques, E. Snow, Phebe, John Taylor
Asahel, Emma, & all the children in one Letter, Delight
Sarah James Allen, Bleak McAllister & Nuttall

Mount Reffuge, Arazonia Allen, Lewis 1879 President John Taylor Dear Brother Having an oppertunity of forwording Direct by privat conveyance to Salt Lake I feel to improve it by writing a few lines to you. I am among my friends in good health and spirits and Neither go hungry or attint. I feel that the Lord has so far shielded me I feel that I have a guardian Angel with ^me^ by day & by night that takes special care of me, this is the first time I Ever saw or crossed the Colorado and passed over theseis Deserts. Brother Tanner who will deliver this to you has been Exploring vary extensively through Arraizoniaa I think it would be well for him to give you the information He has about the country for New settlements. I think Br John W at Moen Coppy is doing all He can to benefit the settlement it looks like rather a hard place to build up but a Necssary

Mount Reffuge, Severe County, Utah, To Asahel, Nelly, Clara, Owen, Blanch, & Allice My Dear Beloved Children, I will have to write to you all at once, I got letters from you all & your mother while on the road here, I have a chance to send By private conveyance and having many letters to write I canont write lengthy I was 12 days rtravelling from St George to my present location and lay on the ground Every night lived on salt Bacon & Bread, But arived here in pretty good condition. I find myself alone to night in a tent tent 8 feet square with my bed on the floor one side and my trapts & I a writing on the other, surrounded with many Indians of various tribes, for the first time in my life I have crossed the Colorado and seen it runing between sand stone walls perpendicular 2000 feet high, and did not look as large as Jordon, because of the great distance to it I am at Present 100 Miles from Either a post office or a Telegraph Office. I have not seen a paper from Salt Lake or any whare Els for two weeks and the ownly way I can send or get letters is by private conveyance. I am now stoping within 3 miles of 3 lakes each half a
