Journal Entry

April 20, 1879 ~ Sunday

20 Sunday we drove 15 Miles to the Turkey tanks and
camped for the night. These tanks are in the hard
calcined Rocks are some 100 feet long 24 wide and 10
feet deep all pure cold water from Rain and snow
the country abounds in Deer Antilope & Turkeys
and wild Beast we heard the Turkeys Gobble in the morn-
ing before we were up The Altitude was 6900 feet 15 M[iles]
we drove on the old Beal Road and saw some 20
Antilope & shot at some at a long distance but got none
