May 15 1879 Our company consists
of W Woodruff Jerrome Judd, August Wilkin
Almono Loeto Young. [BLANK] Husband wife & child
& ^A. S.^ Gibbons total 8 souls. we drove to
the Black falls & camped for the night 25 M[iles]
we found this Little Colorado River as
dry as a turnpike for many miles it
was difficult for us to get water to drink,
cook, & water Animals what there was
was standing in pockets. There was a
little pool under the Black falls we caught
a Bucket full of small Chub with
a hook which made a Breakfast for
us all in the Morning
