Letter from George Teasdale, 15 August 1887
President Woodruff, My dear brother: Last night at 11.5 Prs. R. S. Campbell and myself arrived at the Exchange Station in this City, having been away just five weeks on a trip to the Continent visiting the Swiss and German and Scandinavian Confer- ences. We have enjoyed our trip exceedingly and return much improved in health and spirits. We found the Elders and saints rejoicing in the spirit of the Gospel. As we intend publishing an account of our trip in the "Star" it will be needless to refer much to it here, as we find a pile of busi- ness and correspondence to be attended to, and must confess our being so long travelling Elders has somewhat unfitted us for office work, but hope to quiet down to our duties in a few days and write you at greater length. I want to acknowledge the receipt of your very much appreciated letters of the 5th and 11th ult. They were forwarded to me on the Continent. The news of the death of President John Taylor was also received by telegram to Berlin from Prest Flygare with whom I had been communicating. I must confess I was not pre- pared for anything of the kind and was shocked to the news. Our loss is certainly his gain. I have
