Salt Lake City, U. T., Prest. W. Woodruff Salt Lake City Dear Brother I beg to hand you herewith a letter from Bro. G. G. Bywater, master mechanic Utah Central Railway, which is respectfully submitted for your information. If it would not be inconsistent with your arrangements, we would consider it an accommodation, if Bro. Ashton could be honorably released from his mission for the present only; and until such times as our mechanics are caught up with their work. Your Bro in the the covnt of peace John Sharp Genl. Letter to Asahel Hart Woodruff, 19 October 1887

Salt Lake City, Utah, My Dear Asahel I want to write a letter to Ma and a few lines to you And as I dont feel to old yet to give a word of advice to a Blesed son I want to say what at the farm on Sunday I opened your Desk to look for a screw driver I saw lying loose $135 in gold, silver, & paper I thought it would be a good thing for Asahel to put his money in a purs or pocket Book if not under lock & [FIGURE] at least out of sight so that if a Hired girl or child should happen to open your desk & see the money lying loose might not be tempted to steal, a word to the wise is sufficent As ever yours W W

Letter to Emma Smith Woodruff, 19 October 1887

Salt Lake City, Utah, My Dear Emma I wrote to say I have not been to the office yet as that is watched I am as [living] as Ever I send you Claras Letter you can see that our independant Blanch will soon be the Bell of provo I like her independence Emma I have lost my Night cap did you take it home or did I leave it at Wilkin &c I miss it I want to get it Now my Dear I want to say look for me Friday night with Brother Bateman & be ready to start for Provo at 5 oclk in the morning & return on Monday which will be about as Long as the House of Israel scan stand still without me (I dont mean to say that the kingdom cannot rooll without me)
