Letter from John Daniel Thompson McAllister, 22 October 1887
Sat. Under this date the following
letter was sent:
"President Wilford Woodruff,
Salt Lake City.
Dear Brother:
We feel that the welfare of
parts of our Stake will be enhanced by
making some changes. At High Council
to-day those matters were discussed and
the following is the result of our deliberations.
That Franklin O. Holt be Bishop of Gun-
lock Ward vice Joseph S. Huntsman, resigned.
That Brigham Whitmore be Bishop of Overton
Ward vice Isaiah Cox, honorably released, he
having removed from the Ward.
That Grafton Branch be organized into a
Ward with James H Ballard as Bishop.
That Springdale Branch be organized into a
Ward with William R. Crawford as Bishop.
We submit the above four names for your
approval as Bishops of the Wards named.
We do not submit the names of brethren to act
as their respective Counselors, as our minds were
not clear as to who would work most harmonious-
ly with those bishops.
The rule as laid down by President Taylor
was to submit names of Bishops and Counselors
