Letter to John Bushman, 25 November 1887

Salt Lake City, John Bushman Dear Brother, I received your letter of Nov. 18 [18]87. I also received one about the same time from Bro. Nielson In reply to all these matters, I will say, I would like a settlement made with Lot Smith, upon some terms, and have it stay settled. I realize as well as any man can, about the temperament of Lot Smith. I wrote him what perhaps he would call a very severe letter. I have not heard from him since. I know he is abusive at times to his wives children and friends But as he seems to have but few friends, I have befriended him from principle, for I know there has been great prejudice against him from persons in high places. All I want is justice done, but I am anxious to have this matter settled for good and get through with it.

Letter from William Paxman, 25 November 1887

President Wilford Woodruff Salt Lake City Dear beloved Brother Today on my arrival at this place, I received your most welcome and interesting letter of the 13th of October, which had been forwarded from Gisborn to me. I am not able to discribe the joy it afforded me in reading the contents of the same, to hear direct from the leaders of Gods' Kingdom upon the Earth, in relation to the interest and progress of the same, and of the welfare of Gods insp- ired serveants in these trying and per- ilous times, what a time of rejoiceing it must have been to you, as also to the Saints, to have you with them at the late Confrence, if only for one meeting, after such, a long time of seclusion, we were indeed sorry to learn that you had been so unwell

Letter from Angus Munn Cannon, 25 November 1887

Salt Lake City President Wilford Woodruff, Dear Brother: At a Session of the High Council held on the 23rd inst. the avisability of organizing the North Point Branch of the Brighton Ward into a Ward was freely talked of in the Council with the following result: That Bro. Levi ^W^ Reid be ordained a High Priest and Bishop and set apart to preside over the North Point Ward of the Salt Lake Stake of Zion, providing this meets your approval. Herriman Ward being in a disorganized condi tion through the death of Bishop James Crane, the following action was taken by the Council at its last Session (Nov. 23rd) with regard to that Ward: That Robert Dansie be ordained a High Priest and Bishop, and be set apart to preside over the Herriman Ward of the Salt Lake Stake of Zion, pro- viding this was approved by you. (Signed) Angus M Cannon Pres't of Stake

Letter from William Monroe Lloyd, 25 November 1887

Pine Valley. . Pres. W. Woodruff. Dear Bro. I received my notice for a Mission to the South- ern States, and am quite willing to go. I should esteem it a great favor if it could be defered for a month or six weeks, as our recommends are now on the way for your Signature for Marriage, and my business be- ing unsettled. If this favor could be granted it would be very satisfactory. If not granted please answer by Telegraph that I may be ready. Also, should the above favor be granted kindly state the time you wish me to be in Salt Lake City. Please answer to Pine Valley and Oblige. Resp. Your Bro. in the Gospel Wm. M. Lloyd
