Mexico, . Pres't Wilford Woodruff, Dear Bro. As the time for my departure from this City is drawing near, I con- sider it my duty to give you a brief account of my stewardship on this Mission. Our late, lamented Apostle Erastus Snow gave me instructions before leaving the Colony of Juarez, in re- gard to what he expected me to accomplish while in this lower country. He desired me to learn to speak the spanish language fluently, make myself ac- quainted with the customs of the country, obtain a knowledge of commercial matters, become acquainted with leading men of the Nation and perform what missionary labor I could for the redemption of this branch of the house of Israel. I trust I have ac- complished at least a portion of the charge placed upon me. The condition of the Mission is about as it was when I last reported it. On this account I am unable to give you a statistical report, which would reflect the truth. We have probably 12 or 15 families in the Mission who are more or less faith- ful, many others who have a normal standing are
