Salt Lake City, Utah, President Wilford Woodruff Dear Brother: I take pleasure one more in reporting the conditions of affairs in the Indian Ty. Mission. Elder James F. Smith returned in very good condition, having ent- irely recovered, he brought two converts with him (whites) Elder Anderson arived in his field of labor in good condition, he and Elder Wm T. Jack (now in charge) have started on a trip up in the North Eastern part of the Cherokee Nat. near Missouri Two of the Elders are South in the Choctaw nation and two are working their way west into the Osage Nation, this last named is a tribe almost civilized, they are however almost under the Catholic rule also. we will give them a chance and see how well they will receive the Gospel. The nations on the south (civilized) are much the same as the Cherokee people
