Letter from Joseph Christenson, 12 January 1891

Salt Lake City, U.T. Prest. Wilford Woodruff, Dear Brother: Knowing that you are cramped for means, I feel sorry in having to ask you for a raise in my salary; but I desire to purchase a home as soon possible, and find it a very hard struggle under my present (wage $60.00 per month, 1/3 cash). After the rent is payed and my other expences, I haven't much left. Hoping you will answer favor- ably on my petition, if possible, and not think me presumable. I remain, Your Brother Jos. Christenson.

Letter from J. Frank Pickering, 12 January 1891

Payson, Utah, . Prest. W. Woodruff, Salt Lake City; Dear Bro: I wrote you some months since in regard to a proposed young people's paper. You misunderstood our plan, thinking that we wished to represent the Y.M.M.I. A. in the columns of our newspaper, "the Enterprise." We have now almost perfected our plans for publishing the proposed paper which will be issued monthly in the exclusive interests of such associations as the Y.M. & Y.L.M. I.A., the Sunday Schools, the Public Schools, Literary and Musical organi- zations, etc., and will be called "Young Utah." We enclose an endorsement from Prest. Smoot and Bp. Tanner

Nephi City, Utah, President Wilford Woodruf, Salt Lake City. Dear Brother, The time sat for our quartly Con- ference, is next Saturday and Sunday the 17th and 18th inst. And we sincerely desire that we may be favored and blest with the presence of yourself, and President Geo. Q. Cannon, or some of the apostles or other of the Elders of Isreal as you may direct. Knowing as we do, in part, of your many duties and labors, we feel that we dare not hope for you to be with us.
