Fillmore City, . Pres. Wilford Woodruff, Salt Lake City, Dear Brother: Your notice that my name had been present- ed and accepted for a mission to Great Brittain came to hand about two weeks since. In reply will say; That if it is possible I will meet you at the appointed time or sooner, as I accept the appointment cheer- fully for the reason that I desire to labor for the es- tablishment of the Kingdom of God wherever and whenever I am wanted by the authority of the Lord upon the earth. If satisfactory to the Presidency I would prefer to meet you about conference instead of the 15th as I desire, with your approval, to go earlier than the company with which I will sail, to Illinois to visit relatives in order that I may get some necessa- ry information with reference to my relatives in the old country. Trusting this will meet with your approval I am Your Brother in the Gospel. James McMahon I hereby approve and endorse the foregoing Letter of accepatance. Thomas C Callister Bishop. All right J. F. Letter from William Orme Lee, 20 February 1891
To The First Presidency Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Dear Brethren Your favor of Jany 7th containing information concerning Bros. Love and Merrill, also books, tracts, and map came duly to hand with our last mail on the 29th ult. We were pleased to hear from you once more, and thankful that you, together with the Apostles, were enjoying good health. We were sorry to hear of so much sickness and so many deaths in Zion, and hope that the Saints will not suffer through drought during the coming season. Brother Carpenter has been sick all the month with malarial fever, but is now well again, and rapidly repaining his strength. I have also been troubled somewhat with my lungs but expect to be all right again soon. All the others brothren as far as I know, together with my wife and children are all enjoying very good health. Bro. Smoot has commenced to talk in the Tonga language, and the native teacher from the Friendly Group, with whom he was talking, paid him a very high compliment. We have received notification from Apostle Brigham Young, that the books we ordered and you endorsed, are coming. Many thanks, and if you will please forward the invoice we will have our folks leave the amount with Bro. Reynolds. King Malietau with his body guard called to see us last week.
