24 Sunday I spent the day in the House Reading I am
suffering a good Deal with the Asthma

Presdt Wilford Woodruff Dear Brother, Yours of the 271st inst informing me that my name has been accepted as a missionary to Great Britain and that I am expected to start on June 27 to hand I feel very much honored and will do all that lies in my power to fulfill this call, and all though it is quite sudden, and gives me very little time to be at home after marriage, I having married on April 29, you may expect me to be on hand ready to start on June 26. Letter from Roderick Davies, 24 May 1891
Scofield Utah. Presdt Wilford Woodruff Dear Brother In reply to yours of the 21st inst informing me that I had been called on a mission to Great Britain, and asking to me to be ready by June 27, I wish to say that I am sensible of the honor conferred upon me, by your calling me to bear the gospel to my native land (Wales) where I expect you will send me; that I have allways been willing for may years to respond to any call made upon me; and that though somewhat advanced in years, my age being 74, I am as able as most men twenty years younger than myself; and that you may expect me in Salt Lake City on the day appointed Yours in the Gospel Roderick Davies I fully endorse the above.
