Jan 1, 1892
I am thankful to the Lord that my life is preservd
to see the commencement of 1892 And for the
preservation of my family while so many of
my Naibors have been taken away A great many
of Aged People have been taken away this past
year I have had a great Deal of sickness myself
But have Been preserved untill the President time
I spent most of the day at home I rode up to
Br Beebe in the Afternoon 6 mil

Prest. Wilford Woodruff, Stalt Lake City, Utah. Dear Brother: On the 6th of July last, I received a letter from you calling me upon a mission to the United States. I accepted the call, stated my immediate circumstances, etc. according to counsel. I received reply to this, dated July 31st, signed by Elder Geo. Reynolds, Secretary of the Missionary Committee of the Apost[l]es, releasing me from said mission until I could complete the entry upon my land, etc. And that when ready I was to communicate with you in regard to such instructions as might then be deemed necessary. In about three months the term of school I am now teaching will be nended. I write this
