Letter from Richard Theodore Haag, 4 November 1892
To the Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dear Brethren: Permit me to make the following petition in behalf of the widow and children of my brother Elder Adolf Haag, who died while on his mission in Palestine, Oct. 3, 1892. Elder Adolf Haag was 27 1/2 years of age and had lived in Utah as a faithful saint for ten years before his departure, which occurred Feb. 22nd 1892. He owned a small store in Payson, where he resided, the rent of which together with the payment of a debt which I owed him was to be the support of his wife until his return. Letter from James Fullarton Muirhead, 4 November 1892
To the Presiding Bishop of the Mormon Church. My dear Sir: The enclosed proofsheet is from Baedeker`s forthcomi- ing Handbook to the United States. If this book attains anything like the vogue of our European Handbooks, it will be used very extensive- ly by visitors to this country. I am therefore anxious that, in the brief limits at my disposal, it should give a fair and accurate account of Salt Lake City and the Mormon Church. I should therefore, esteem it a favour if you would read the enclosed notice odf Salt Lake City and alter anything that you think wrong or misleading. In addition, I should very much like if you would write a short paragraph (say 500 words) upon the Church of the Latter Day Saints, setting forth its origin, principles, and present condition. If you de- sire it, I should be happy to attach your name to this paragraph. Yours very truly James F. Muirhead English Editor Baedeker's Handbooks.
Letter from Andrew Kimball, 4 November 1892
Salt Lake City. To the First Presidency Dear Brethren: I herewith submit the Statistical part of my Indian Territory Mission report. Being away from home when the other part was handed in I did not have the information. Since our report, Elder Henry H. Allen of Cache Co. has been released on account of sickness, the worst feature of which was poison. For some time he suffered from the effects of poison Ivy and poison oak, it got into his blood and when the chills took hold of him it almost used him up. He is improving now and will soon be well again. Elder Rawlins returned to his field in company with other new Elders on the 11th of Oct. At present all are well except Elder Stott who is rapidly improving and does not entertain a single thought of being released before his time. Kind regards I am Very Respctfully Your Brother in the Gospel Andrew Kimball
