Letter from J. Frank Pickering, 29 December 1892
Payson, Utah, . GIBSON CO. DENVER Mirror of Utah. J.Frank Pickering's MIRROR OF UTAH consists of twenty artistic paintings, each seven by eleven feet in size, covering all the prin- cipal points of interest in the Terr- itory. Realistic scenes of pioneer days and of Utah's early history, fine views of lake and mountain scenery, prominent buildings, the mining and manufacturing industries of the territory all have a place in this panorama. A company of musical and com- edy artists will acompany the en- tertainment and the route will in- clude all the principal towns and cities of Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and states east and it is also proposed to locate in Chicago during the World's Fair. A good opportunity for live ad- vertisers presents itself in the drop curtain for the MIRROR OF UTAH. This curtain will contain a correct picture of the World's Fair buildings and grounds and around this scene will be spaces for advertising cards, each about two by three feet in size. But very few firms can be represented on this curtain and our propositions are made only to the leading manu- facturers and dealers of the Terr- itory. If you are given the oppor- tunity to represent your business thereon, you should take advantage of it as thousands of intelligent people will see this curtain, and it is advertising which they can`t fail to see and read. The tour will be commenced early next month and about one hundred Utah towns will be visited before leaving for the East. Our HOTEL, THEATRE and NEWS- PAPER DIRECTORY will soon be out. A good chance for advertising for live business houses. Write for particulars. Dear Brother— Some time ago I wrote in relation to my set of paintings "Mirror of Utah" and received a reply from Bro. Reynolds asking me to name a place and date of performance that some one might be detailed to witness the entertainment and report to you its features. I had intended to do this at various times but could not do so in a single instance as we were rarely advertised in a place more than two or three days ahead and I could not have written you in time for you to have taken any action in the matter. I consider my entertainment to be our worthy of the patronage of the people as it is
