September 11, 1893 ~ Monday

11 I went to the Utah House & was taken quite
sick with the Cholary Morbus I returned to my Boarding
House & was sorely afflicted with Purging & vomiting
I was quite sick through the night

To The First Presidency of the Church, Salt Lake City, Utah. Dear Brethren: Your highly esteemed favor of Aug. 12th, came duly to hand the 1st ins't. Elder Orlando Barrus also arrived here in safety, on the same date, and in the enjoyment of good health and spirits, as were also the three elders who were on their way to New Zealand. Bro- ther Barrus brought 500 of the Samoan tracts which were received in good order. Last month I purchased some lumber to make a few much needed improvements in our meeting house here, and to build a boat house, which we have erected, it being twenty six feet long by eight feet wide; the boat house was almost a necessity, for as it was before the boat had to be left out in the sea and sun the greater part of the time, and as a result it was always having to be repaired and painted, and only two months ago we had to put five new boards in the boat, but as it is now it can be kept in nice shape and will not need repairing every few days, hence I trust that what I have done in the matter will meet with your approval. I enclose herewith a financial statement of the Samoan Mission that you may see just how we are financially. On Aug. 24th. I received two letters from Elder C. D.
